Day 14: Looking Ahead.

Today was an overall good day. I struggled to get out of bed, but once I did I was able to get going. Weekends are really challenging for me because I get out of the rhythm I set up during the week. I tend to sleep in and hang around the house - which is fine, except that it seems to make me more tired feeling. I like to get up early and go - if I sit around too much in the morning it sets the pattern for the day. Don't get me wrong I love to relax, I just like to relax in the afternoon when my energy is already naturally waning.

We had church today and our reverend reminded us that soft power is so much stronger than hard power. He said soft power is, "Gentle pressure, relentlessly applied." Faith and patience are the two champions of soft power. They are required to make any lasting change in this life. I couldn't help but to relate what he was saying to the change taking place in my own life. "Gentle pressure relentlessly applied", has become a mantra of sorts for me today. Reminding me that this will not change over night, but it will change one day. It will be my default habit one day as long as I keep moving, no matter how slowly in the direction of my hopes for an energetic and healthy life.

The last few days have been a bit of a challenge, and I feel like it has been God asking me how badly I want to make this change. I have moved forward in spite of the challenges and for that I am grateful. As I look ahead to the week lying before me, I seek to make the small changes that will add up to big change over the coming months. I know I have the faith and the patience and the flexibility to keep walking in the direction of health. Last week I thought I would be ready to add exercise in for this week, but I see what I need instead is working on portioning, and so that will be the goal for this week. Now that I am getting balanced in the food groups, I want to balance the amounts within each group to be a healthy size. Wish me luck and success for the coming week friends I will need the good energy sent my way!
