Day 8: More Balance

Last week I focused mostly on just getting started and getting used to eating the foods that are right for me. That meant eating as much as I wanted of the approved foods, and not bothering with the idea of balanced nutrition. This week my goal is to become more evenly distributed in the food groups - protein, starches, fruits, veggies, and fats. As I looked over my food log for the week I noticed I was a little heavy in fats (even if they were good fats) and a little light in fiber - so I will start there.

This morning I really struggled to get out of bed, probably because the thunder storm woke me at 3am. I was so, so tired and couldn't mange to even open my eyes until 7:30. My goal is to get up at 6:30 - so I have a little work to do on that. Once I was out of bed, it took a bit to get my energy flowing, but it did finally kick in around 8 - just in time for the babes to wake up. Throughout the morning and early afternoon my energy was steady and so was my mood. The evening I was able to maintain both energy and good mood as the craziness of bath time started. I feel so calm.

I've been contemplating my impatience and I think it is born of a fear that if I do not - change, do, see, move, take action - right now, then it will never happen. In short, I have no trust in God (or The Universe if you like that better) to remind/provide me with what I need when I need it. Faith, while simple, is not easy. Yet, I believe having more trust will heal my impatience if I allow it to.

Next week I am hoping to add exercise into my plan - I will be very interested to see how that factors into my mood and energy levels. I noticed today the biggest improvement in my mood has to do with not feeling overwhelmed as often. When it does happen it totally makes sense - it is the end of the day and I am tired. But, I don't over-react to being overwhelmed either, I feel more able to just walk away and let it pass.

Those are the thoughts for today, it's been a good one. I feel like last Monday was weeks ago. Tired enough to have a good night's sleep. sweet dreams my friends.
